When I started collecting coins in the 1960's, I was told the Blue book is a price guide to buy coins and the Red book was selling pricing. There was not a lot of pricing except the Red and Blue books. Gray sheets to my knowledge were not around and the internet was decades in the future.

Because it is essentially useless. No dealer is going to use an 18 month old price guide.
