It's worth a few bucks. Blank planchet. They're cool. Never found one "in the wild".

This is a type 2 blank with rim. The ones without the rim are worth a bit more than those with.

They are a FAIRLY common promotional giveaway item from the U.S. Mint at major shows. It's usually two pieces in a two-pocket film pouch - one struck cent with a matching blank planchet. It's been a few years since they've handed them out.

If you weigh it you can tell if it is zinc or copper. Zinc 2.5 grams copper 3.1. Offhand I would guess it is zinc.
    Nice find.

Nice find. You might get a quarter-million for it. Or a quarter.

Oh I think the going rate is $2 for zinc and $3 for copper. The type-1's bring more, but without the rim it just looks like a slug.

It's proper name is a planchet. If it found it's way out of the mint before the rim was upset, it would be a blank.

There’s no such thing as the quarter-million one.

I have a 1943 Steel Cent Type 1 Blank - These are worth a bit more because of its rarity.

That looks like our electrical junction box punchouts we used to collect. :)

Hmm, likely steel. Probably plated to prevent corrosion, maybe with zinc. Hmm.

I have a 1959 cent with a blank reverse my deceased grandfather had in in a piggy bank from at least the 70s but could have been earlier..I just emptied the piggy bank Itit was brown glazed round McCoy type one and he had cemented the bottom opening that would have had the round cover on the bottom contents
I have to look at it again but believe its a 1959 D. Was that common?

No, not common but could be a mint error or could be a coin that was altered after it left the mint. Only way to tell is if you could post clear pictures of both sides for us. And best to start a new thread rather than hijack an old thread on a separate subject.
