hi, this is my first post. does anyone have an idea what this golden colored planchette is next to the new york state quarter? it is pretty much the same dimensions as the state quarter. it does not have a reeded edge, and it weighs ~6.2g. I'm guessing maybe it's just a clipping out of an electrical box or something, but idk though.. i found it in a 5 gallon jug full of pennies. thanks..

also, i got the picture to send from my phone to yahoo mail and my facebook account, but neither one of them will let me download it. neither program says anything about it being unsafe or anything so i don't know what the deal is. but i did manage to get a link from face book where they stored the picture. hopefully it works.

    thanks in advance.

ok after posting i clicked on the link and it showed my picture. sorry if this seems sketchy in any way, but it's all i could manage to get to work. pissed me right off. anyhow, thanks for any help as to what this is just so i know.

It looks slightly larger than the quarter. If so, it is probably a slug.

i was thinking that it could have been a piece of metal that would trick vending machines. and upon searching i came up with 'slug coin', which is exactly what this would be, right? thanks all

A planchette ( /plɑːnˈʃɛt/ or /plænˈʃɛt/), from the French for "little plank", is a small, usually heart-shaped flat piece of wood equipped with two wheeled castors and a pencil-holding aperture, used to facilitate automatic writing.

    it is spelled: planchet

Why whats the problem? My answer is very accurate and it is as visible and clear as CTois photo.

Thanks Treashunt, if I hadn't misspelled planchet for you to correct me, then I wouldn't have learned about planchettes and their relation to ouija boards. I attribute that lesson to my French ancestry :D

Taxidermist, the only camera I had to use on hand was a cheap camera phone. However, I thought a picture even of that quality would be better than no picture, especially in the case of a *blank* planchet.
