Quote: "Is it authentic?" End quote.

To me -- and I am certainly not an expert (yet) -- It appears to be a type 2 blank planchet (raised rim) (cent) with a 2007 Red Book value of $2 to $3 depending on copper/zinc composition. I have yet to find one myself. Still looking.

Edit to add: I don't see any weak details so it does not appear to be a weak strike/die trial.

Diameter and weight would provide more detailed and nuanced info and therefore may provide more detailed/nuanced value determinations from a real expert.

I agree that it looks like a TY2, (the most common one to find) and I don't see any reason to think it is fake.
The value would run closer to $1 IMHO. I have around 10+ that I took to a coin show for $1 each and didn't sell any. Of course it might not have been the right place, or time, or such a coin to sell...

I've seen most of these offered for about $3-$5 at shows.

    Hope this helps,

I sent them to a bunch of Boy Scouts on the west coast not long ago along with some extra coins I had. I can't remember but I think in the one bunch that was sent out there was a 1909-S lincoln cent mixed in!!! I bet someone got a nice shock!

I think Speedy's about right with the price of $1- at least that's around what they sell for on eBay.
