newbe - I have no idea what this is ... It appears to be part of the coin ... anyone ever seen this ?
Hi AtomicZ. This is PMD (post mint damage) It was most likely done with heat, and possibly with heat and a little chemical on it.
That's why I wanted to see the reverse where the heat source may have been, but the link he posted doesn't work for me........"Contact Administrator"!! Chris
cooked in what ... hobo soup ? Was this done while this was made or sometime after ?<br>thankkz! PMD (post mint damage) GOT IT ! You guys R great ! Thankz for the help - I'm not a coin collector [ I collect rare vintage unbuilt balsa airplane model kits from the 1940's etc - so I know what it is to find something rare as well as something "KITBASHED" which is a term used when a seller assembles old parts into a box and tries to pass it off as VINTAGE UNBUILT ... So I do really appreciate the info and the new knowledge - thankz again AtomicZ...
No problem. That's cool about the airplanes! Also, if you do cook a coin in hobo soup, this is what happens:
