I stopped by my dads place today and he had picked up 11 Morgans all NGC Graded w/ the Binion Collection pedigree. I'm in love with all things Benny Binion, but i'm not having much luck getting any info on these and if they're tied to him or Ted. They have a website listed on 'em - binionsilverhoard.com, but it's been squatted. Was hoping someone could shed a little light on 'em?
Binion and Redfield were both similar in that they really were NOT collectors--they hoarded coins due to their eccentricities, and were not particularly sophisticated. It isn't like one is collecting the expertise of a truly pedigreed coin, as they're quite common, unless one gets an example in high grade with lots of eye appeal. I have found many attractive Binion Morgans, but his contribution was simply that he had it---he was basically a gangster--a la Meyer Lansky.
