Does anyone also try and search bills, if so do you find enough to make it worth your time compare to coins? If so what do you go through and look for to try and make it worth your time?
In some areas it can be worthwhile to cultivate local undertakers, some old people save for their funerals in cash and there may be numbers of older series notes in a payment. As a banknote dealer in the 1960s I had several Scottish undertakers on my books who commonly got payment including notes from the 1940s, and if you know Scottish notes the higher denominations were quite large, very impressive and very easy to sell.
Im just thinking in the US, if it would be worth getting bands of bills to go through for either star notes or low didgets but I dont know much about doing that, im more of a coin person but I do like bills, just dont know what to look for besides some stars, errors and low numbers, but if you do find a star it seems like its never worth much of anything for the newer bills.
I can't find the site I was looking for... but this one has a variety. talks of fancy serial numbers and some errors http://www.panix.com/~clay/currency/glossary.html
