Though worn and likely to be broken soon, the following coin attracted me with Marsyas standing on reverse, wine skin on shoulder and raising his right hand. The coin was struck at Laodekeia ad Mare in Syria and listed "Very Rare". The obverse has joint busts of Septimius Severus and his wife Julia Domna. There are 2 counter marks there. The coin weighs 19.41 g. with 32 mm. of diameter. Mionnet V, 771. But the coin shown there has only 1 counter mark. Glad to read your comments. Thanks..
IMO very attractive coin. There are a dozen examples on acsearch, all of them having countermarks . The attribution seems to be SNG Righetti 2114.
I love that coin! Marsyas and countermarks - two of my favorite things. At the risk of cutting in line on TIF - she has these same (similar?) countermarks and the same(?) host coin in her collection, fully attributed and beautifully photographed: https://www.tifcollection.com/sepsev--domna-ae-Laodicea I want one! I want one!
