For my birthday my dad got me a bundle of awesome coins. Here's a first for me: a large, crown-size Canada Dollar. Beautiful reverse that I really love. 80% silver and dated 1960. It's pretty neat how such a large coin was actively circulating this late? In the US large size dollar coins weren't really circulated too much outside of casinos by this point.
I only have one of these large dollars. I love the designs though. I got this lot a few years back for under melt, eh
Nice, good deal. I get a lot sent to me from Mum and 3 sisters, all live in or around Vancouver. I think the designs on all denominations are great. I have regular, uncirculated and proofs as well as a number of the commemoratives.
I really love the heft and weight of this coin in-hand. Reminds me of an old joke: Grandpa brings kid to a point in the Delaware River or something. "Kid, this spot right here is where George Washington once threw a silver dollar clear across to the other bank" "Aw, grandpa, nobody could throw a coin that far!" "You gotta remember son, that a dollar went a lot farther back then"
