Old time collector's needed to help me find BIE's, Spiked Heads, Flagpole Nickels, 1960-D Bar Nickels. In the current climate of error/variety collecting the above items are met with scorn and ridicule. But I KNOW there collector's out there that LOVE these coins and I want to talk to you. I collect BIE's and Spiked Head Lincolns from Jean Cohen's book, "The Classification and Value of Errors on the Lincoln Cent" published in 1969. There MUST be collector's who have this book and the coins described in it. The first documentation of a BIE is 1942P. The latest one found is a beautiful 2013 BIE in my collection. Flagpole nickels have a die crack running from the top of the reverse rim of a nickel through the dome of Montecello and sometimes all the way to the bottom of the rim. I have a 1940S, 1942S, 1944S but know of many others, especially war nickels. Bar nickels happened mainly in 1960D, 1961D, 1962D nickels. They have small die chips above the letters in Liberty and date (LIBERTY 1960). I have documented 33 different for 1960D but a member on COINTALK named CLADKING claims 140 varieties. Coulson, nice to see you here. We spoke on another forum. I still haven't found an old wheat cent BIE. I have found a mid 2000's cent with the start of a BIE chip. It has the oval die crack that circles through the B & E. I'll see if I can dig it out a little later. I'm a "new age" collector and I still find the coins you listed interesting. I have a couple, I like errors but I don't chase after them specificly. On the other hand when I do find them they get tucked away. Not my best but dug this one out of my misc error box. Sorry crap pic but my light setup is crapped out again
