Been a couple of weeks without a blog post. I took a week off from the local bid boards so there just wasn't much to post. However, I was make it to the shops this past week.

On the bid boards this week I noticed quite a bit of Morgan Dollars. Most of them seem to be AU or lower MS grades, MS60-63 for the most part. I'm not really that into Morgans so I don't spend too much time looking at them, but I'll sometimes buy them if they're offered at near silver melt prices and/or if one of them just looks cool. None of the Morgans this past week interested me so I spent my lot viewing time on the rest of the U.S. coins and the World coins.

Nevertheless, I really didn't buy too much at the bid boards this week. I was able to pick up a few proof silver Washington quarters for silver melt and also a proof silver Kennedy Half that was just barely over silver melt. When buying silver to add to my collection or even for resale, I really like to buy silver proofs when they are available for junk silver prices versus the typical worn out 90% junk silver that is usually out there. I also picked up another pair of NGC sample slabs with silver Kennedy halves in them. They cost a little bit more than the silver price, but not too much.

Probably the coolest coin I was able to get on the bid boards this past week was a 1921-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The coin is probably graded AG3 or so, not quite meeting the standard for Good, but it's close. Apparently, the other bidders didn't realize this one was one of the better dates in the series with a mintage of only 548,000 so I was able to win it for only $15.50! Not too bad!
