View attachment 54882 Here's a Bicentennial halve dollar taking from a mint roll with a nice obverse strike thru error. I just don't know what would have caused this strike thru what foriegn object was it. The image is incussed. What do you think struck this coin?

#1: That is the reverse, not the obverse.

#2: POSSIBLY a struck thru a wire, but it could also be post mint. We'd need closeups to be sure, and even then it may not be apparent if it is mint made or post mint.

I know it's not post mint damage ,and sorry about the wrong side of the coin mistake. The image is from some kind of strike thru error and i was thinking the same thing Treashunt ,a wire is the culprit it has that appearance. Thanks for looking Treas. here's a closeup of the strike thru

Still tough to see, however, the second picture is more convincing.

    NOW Ya got me!

Okay, I have to agree, I see no evidence of metal flow above the mark.

So, it appears that you have a winner.

    Anyone else?

I agree with the strike through, my guess would be a wire too. Nice coin, except for that pesky finger print on the obv.

Do you live in my house?

At least my mother-in-law is consistant -- she NEVER agrees with me.

The most often said words in her house: "You're wrong, Frank."
