I am still pretty new to all this stuff, haven't bough a red book yet. (wife won't let me) but i wanted to check out what my coins may be worth, so when and if i trade them i know there value. I am pretty sure its not a good idea to post a new thread for every coin i have and get everyones expert opinion... SOOOOO.... ANY SUGGESTIONS for any websites that are good to use to check values on coins?
Check out WWW.numismedia.com like most guides including the red book, the prices are probably a little inflated, but it will give you an idea.Hook luck! --Dennis
Here's what I use: http://www.numismedia.com/ http://www.pcgs.com/prices/ http://coinflation.com/ (melt value for gold, silver, and circulating coins) (If you don't know how to grade coins, you will need to be able to do it well to be able to use a price guide, except if you have slabbed coins)
Couple suggestions Red book is for learning about coins not so much about relying on it for values. So go to library to look at it or contact a local coin club and see if any members have a couple years older one to give to you for free. I got a new condition 2009 Canadian book in 2011 for free at a coin shop because it was out of date and they couldn't sell it. Get a freebie copy of someone's coin prices from a couple of months ago and then when you find a particular coin you want more info on then get online sources of prices realized.
