I was just wondering what the best way is to take a pic of some coins that I could share with everyone? I have a digital camera but I am not quite sure if I can zoom in close enough or is there something else I can use? Thanks for the help.
Like Eric said use the Macro setting. I have a couple of cameras that I have played with and found that a small tripod helps steady the camera. Most cameras also have a delay button that you can program from 2-10 seconds, that feature has really helped me. My best camera for coins has been my Sony DSC-H50. I have modified it so that I can attach a 10x macro Lens to it as well. The biggest issue I have is lighting. The best thing to do is to try different lighting sources, different background options (I like to put down a piece of felt to protect the coin) and different amounts of zoom. I also like to use the maximum size setting so that you can zoom in after you have taken the picture. If you want to you can look at my profile and see some of the coins I have taken pictures of. Most of these are in slabs. To crop them I used Photo Scape. Some one recommended it last month and it was a free down load. It allows you to crop in a circle. Who knows it might let you make crop circles as well, it is pretty good software. Hope this helps!
