Whether its circulated or not, where do you find most of the coins you pull aside and put in your collection?
From a Coin Dealer mostly, some things from circulation, some from Ebay and some from coin shows, which dont happen too often in my area.
In order of quantity: Coin shows; Non-show Dealers; Circulation Finds; Metal detector -- not much lately.
I used to get my best deals at coin shows. But lately the dealers at the shows are getting greedy. Now I find the best deals for good quality coins on ebay. The local coin dealer's shops are in third place due to greed again. Fourth, circulation. But that is very limited. So for a fair price I buy on ebay. Of course that has it's risks too.

1. flea markets 2.circulation finds 3. metal detector i buy most of my coins from the coin dealers in the flea markets.
Overwhelmingly, our local dealers. I only window shop on eBay these days. We've bought a few things at shows, but there aren't many in the immediate area. I have picked up a few coins at our coin club's auctions which take place at the end of most meetings. Thalia's grandfather sends some to her, as do some other special friends (you know who you are!).
Probably in order of quantity I'd say flea markets, garage/yard and estate sales, then coin shows. For quality mostly at coin shows. I've tried on line a few times but horribly dissapointed. If you can't see it in person it just may not be what you want. I really feel for those people that do not have the massive access we do around here. We have at least 3 coin shows a month, numerous coin dealers at flea markets, coin shops, stores with coin dealers, hobby stores with coins. However, the best and greatest finds I've ever made were at garage/yard and estate sales. Not estate auctions, but sales like a garage or moving type sail. But one thing is you have to ask about coins. They are never left out. Just got to ask. I once found a jar with about $30 face value of cents. The entire bottom 1/3 was all Indian Cents. None newer than 1955. They wanted face value. I gave them $50.
