I like the bottom one but it has no definition so i selected the top.

 

Photo #2 as I feel there is some kind of Aurora Borealis going on with this one........

That happens. Lot o' work involved. It can get crazy when you're trying to capture the right 'moment'.......

 

I think I too about two hundred picture. I kept holding the coins up to my eye and looking at them with the magnifying glass, mumbling to myself....no that photo has to be better. this coin is great.

And you got it down to a few choices? Did you try to use the Burst Setting?

yep, which is why by the time I finished with the first coin, i was exhausted. Maybe i should try burst, but it is on a tripod.

 

No, if your using a tripod there is no reason for the burst.
