I had the greatest find this weekend. My wife is a manager at a bank. She called me Friday and said some guy just deposited $500 in half dollars. So I asked(begged) her to buy all of them from the vault she thought I was crazy, but did it any way. We had run to the mall that night, and didn't get home till after 10pm. I just couldn't wait till morning so I spent the next two hours shorting all the halfs. You will never believe what I found. 10 silver dollars(1921-1928) 2 rolls of walking liberty halves 2 1/2 rolls for Franklin halves 5 rolls of 64 Kennedy halves 26 rolls of halves between 65-70.
Great, fantastic find. I'm always telling people to ask everyone you know if they have any coins they want to get rid of. Lucky for you that guy got missed. By the way you said all 1/2 dollars. Where did the silver Dollars come from? 10 silver dollars(1921-1928)??????????????
I wonder if the guy that cashed them in was that stupid, or if he stole them, and wanted something easier to carry and spend?
Hey wait a minute there. How do you get away with saying "best find ever" and refer to coins and your married. Isn't that a very dangerous statement or dosen't your wife see this. If we never hear from you again, it may be your wife heard that.
I talked to the teller that had to count all the coins. She said they came in an old box with dirt and other junk in it. The guy told her his grandfather left them to him(he was upset all he got was a box of coins). He knew that some of them might be worth something, but all he did was pull out the old 1800s silver dollars. Today I just sold a large chunk of the coins to apmex.com. So I get to show up to the Baltimore show with some extra cash in hand. My wife doesn't mind the coins to much, because it is the only hobby that I have ever stuck with.
CRASH!!!!!!!!!!!........snap....whaft whaft (smelling salts)...blink blink........YOWZER!!!! SWEET FIND!!!!!!!!!!!!
