Slab it before it goes bad.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Camera less important than optics and the stage on which you plan to shoot.

Do you want to find modern minute DDO's that no one can see with the naked eye? Or, just clear photos of coins?
@BooksB4Coins your pretty good with this subject.

yup, "Books" and I use the same basic cameras, but I haven't built a "stage" to shoot on, other than my microscope.

I use a basic T3i, and macro capable lens, anything more and I would think it a waste of money. I am sure some upgrades would help, But basic is fine with me.

The camera would just be for taking HD photos where details are sharp. I don't need super enlarged closeups of a mintmark, just a nice sharp date and stuff

I use a Canon XS mounted on an FD bellows mounted on an Bausch & Lomb stereo microscope stand with a small arsenal of el cheapo enlargening lenses. ( an rmpsrpms special) camera.JPG
