I got this 1989 D in a roll I picked up from the bank here in Heidelberg Germany. Is this an mint error or something that happened to it later in it's life? Sorry about the photo quality. Notice that the O and N in Monticello look like they were never struck.
Maybe...if I had a store and someone gave me that I would hand it back and tell them that I wouldn't take it....stores aren't forced by law to take any of our money and more than ever if its damaged... Speedy
Picky picky Speedy If you ran a store, you'd be risking more than 5 cents by refusing it from a customer. Rule of thumb to shops and resturants and such, Tick off 1 customer and you lose 9. And it takes 10 satisfied customers to bring in only 1 new one. Aka, the power of word of mouth. So, that being said, would you still quibble over a slightly dinged up nickel?
Good point...but I'm still right to a point...it is not worth anything unless he can get something out of it...and a store is not forced to take anything...so in one way they could refuse it--- But you are also right....make one mad and lose 10....but that is also not true always...go to a bank that you are not a member of and ask them to cash in a large can of change...most of the time they won't....but if they have the best BU Quarter rolls there that doesn't mean you won't go there any more... So yes....I might quibble about it if it had some much damage that I might not even ba able to cash it in at a bank...I have had the bank give back coins that are damaged...and this is one coin I wouldn't take Speedy
