I was thinking of getting a Belomo 10x triplet loupe for around $30. Can anyone tell me if this will be adequate for checking for coin errors? Or would getting a cheapie loupe for under $10 be sufficient?

I have never heard of Belomo. But for about the same price you could get a Hastings Triplet, which is, as far as I am concerned, the best.

Bausch & Lomb is not much more expensive and is known to make quality loupes.

I guess these are big with geologists. Belomo is supposedly of equal/better quality and has a larger lens than hastings...(see comparison in pic) http://www.belomo.us/ which is supposed to capture more light. Many people on Amazon reviews gave this very high praise indeed and so I was wondering what folks around here thought about them. But so far, it appears hastings is the standard.
