I was asked by my wife to go through her moms silver hoard. She told me to see if anything was worth anything. Found this beauty.
The outline surrounding the reverse devices, and the font of "DOLLA(R)" when compared to known genuine coins makes the authenticity of your coin suspect at least to me. Perhaps other more experienced Morgan experts can provide a more informed opinion.
That was exactly my thought. It could be the photos and some effect of an old cleaning, or just gunk. The coin looks fake to me also.
It looks like there's old gunk in the R of DOLLAR, possibly caked in silver polish. Likewise the M of AMERICA and N of ONE, the bow, the right wreath, and below the arrows. I have no reason to call this fake from the pictures. Pity about the damage, but still great to find a 92-CC instead of a beat up common date.
Thanks for clarifying, I went thru the MM placements and the date placement, couldn't find any diagnostics that said fake, it just looked off.
