Ok, I am just sitting here (drinking a miller lite) looking at all the posts and all the great people contributing who really know their stuff and was wondering, if you could go anywhere in the world and find just one coin, what would it be?

Now that would all depend on how much it would cost to get a miller lite from you, and I would then know which coin I need.

If I were allowed I would break the cornerstones off the Carson city mint just to see what was inside or under. I would be happy with any coin as long as some one were there to give it providence.:D Thats red wine talkin....

I would go on an Alaskan cruise.

At a port-of-call, I would wander up a glacier to photograph grizzlies. Just as I'm setting up my tripod, getting ready to take a shot of a salmon en-route to grizzly mouth, I notice a glint in the snow.

I bend over, cautiously, mind you, to pick it up. Whaddya know...it's a 1913 Liberty nickel. I immediately auction it off for $3.1 million, and I can afford to travel the world over for the rest of my natural life.

It matters not, but.... (vodka talking.)

Would love to travel the 30 miles or so up the road to Gettysburg and see just how much civil war money I could locate with a metal detector.

Found a new site on private property about 15 miles away in which I have been given permission to do some metal detecting once all the harvesting is done, in which Grant had set up a major camp.

I would like to go to Japan, wander around one of their less inhabited islands and find some provincial money.

That's the Spam talking. (How long has that stuff been in the fridge anyways?)

I'm going to pick San Francisco, and since it's my dream the calendar reads August 2, 1909, when the new Lincoln cent is introduced. Been saving for quite a while and have $20 to buy first issue rolls of that new cent with a S miint mark..........look there's some really small initials on the reverse at the bottom

Sado, in the Sea of Japan off northwestern Honshu, would be an ideal place to take your metal detector.

The food is good, and the people friendly!

I have been metal detecting the Apache Trail/ Roosevelt Dam.

Many nights on the internet and in the Library researching pictures of camps where the workers stayed......

Clembo and I drove the entire road ( its a road today, then it was a mule trail ) and visited the Dam from the underside. I would suspect Indian Cents, Barbers etc etc if I come across a find. There were makeshift bars, houses of ill repute, general stores etc etc, I am sure to find something one day.

If I could find even ONE coin from then, that would be my goal.

    Beautiful country too folks.

I can tell you THE spot Jack. Betting you remember too. We driving on this "scary at times" road and we went over a creek that obviously flows more than many in the area because I saw a REAL tree! Just one but living in an area where we have real trees it really jumped out at me. Betting that tree is real old, near water and provided some shade.

Go there Jack and IF you find a hoard remember who your buddy is! ;)
