Hello fellow collectors, I just want you guys to give me your thoughts and an approximate grade of this particular coin (and if you can, how much you think this coin is worth). It is a raw 1880-S Morgan with striking reverse rainbow pastel toning and a small patch of rainbow toning on the obverse. Thanks for all answers!
Thanks for noticing the rim damage. I did not see that. I wanted to know if it was worth buying because, as you can tell from my avatar and my name, I absolutely love toned Morgans, and this one caught my eye on eBay.
I would take some time to research how to grade before purchasing on eBay without seeing the coin in hand. I would also recommend going to a coin shop or show to sharpen your eye for a coins grade and to spot damage. Often toned coins are hiding or destracting from flaws that can be overlooked because of color. Take a step back and read what has been posted on this forum using the search feature. There are several invaluble threads discussing toning and grading.
