I am not an error collector, but I know when I see something extremely uncommon. I don't usually post images of coins that aren't mine, but this one needs to be shared. I know there are quite a few examples of struck through thread and other debris, but I have never see one this extreme. I put in a hefty bid not knowing if I was way too high, and I still didn't win it. Final price was $407. I still bet that was a good deal. What do you error folks think about this? Should I have went $450? Will I be regretting this for a long time? -greg
Very cool....its authenticity has no question, anyone could tell there was a thread there... I would have gone $425, keep going until $475.
Undoubtedly one of the finer strike throughs in the Kennedy series. Covers lots of real estate and adds plenty of character, while not obscuring much of the design. A real eye-catcher!
Very cool one of a kind coin. It's always sort of a crapshoot as to what to bid, you never know what these will go for in an auction.
Very cool! It looks like a hangman's noose. Dallas was still considered the Wild West back then. I guess Oswald should consider himself lucky that Ruby shot him before they could put it around his neck. Chris
With errors, sometimes it is impossible to put an accurate price on a piece. Sometimes I have gotten spectacular errors for almost nothing, other times, heating bidding wars shoot the price extremely high. Someone else probably wanted it more... I think even if you went $450, you may not have won the coin.
I see this half dollar on Ebay for $2500. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-KENNED...87?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4ac7a81613 Larry Nienaber
Wow, they didn't even take their own images. They used the ones from the auction last week where it sold for $406.99. Here was that auction.
