As a novice collector, I have become quite frustrated trying to find some coins to give as gifts to my nieces for the holidays. Even with the admitted fake coins on ebay, they look fairly nice, especially when shopping for average morgans. Now I see the fakers even have pennies, quarters, etc. Ebay may be making money off these fake ads, but they have to be losing it from buyers like me who have lost confidence in the system that protects buyers. I have relegated my gift giving to modern coins or unique finds from roll searching. Even in the capital city of TN, we have very few coin shows, and the flea markets are anyones guess. Frustrated in TN.
Buy a couple "unsearched" penny rolls or 500 count wheaties and a couple folder Albums.. I haven't met a kid yet who hasn't enjoyed searching through them and filling the holes. They make for great gifts.
Actually thats a great idea......and reminds me of someone who gave a 5 or 10lb bag of world coins to my sons 1st grade class to search and connect with a world map.......teaching coin collecting and geography......... I still have my penny books from when I was a kid.
