I have a pretty beat up 1888-O VAM4 Morgan. Looks like some IDIOT put it a money clip or something. THere is no current trend for this in grades below F12. This all may sound trivial and stupid, but should I spend the $15 bucks to get it graded? Or just sell it on ebay? Thanks for any assistance/suggestions! By the way, what would you grade it? I'm having a REAL hard time going past G because of the wear on reverse!!!

Probably the reason you have it in the first place is the idiot. Otherwise, it likely would have met the fate of most other silver dollars - the melting pot.

    Somewhere between G-6 and VG-8.

AS for slabbing, it would be a no-go for me.

Maybe I could get someone on eBay to buy it...if I promote it right. (no pics) hahaha

erwizard - Heh. I don't think I'm much of a grader when it comes to Morgan dollars. So all I can do in these cases is insert the odd smart alec remark.

Its not worth the 15 bucks to get it slabbed. Shouldn't be that hard to get someone to buy it on E-Bay, just promote it like this. Very rare 1888-O SILVER DOLLAR VAM-4. VERY RARE IN THIS CONDITION!! Or even better send it to SGS and get it graded MS-65 DMPL, lol.

and get the $15.00 or so, there are to many rip off artiste on e-bay now we don't need any more.
