Found this coin in our change that we got today. It’s pretty badly beat up but I think there’s a few special things happening! Any input on what you think and possible values would be appreciated. The rim is almost completely gone, there are copper blister like spots all over, the “D” mint Mark appears to be re-punched or something’s definitely happening there as well as in liberty, and possibly “bie” also. 660C2FF1-33E3-48DC-8281-A51BFEB4CEFB.jpeg 52E0BE44-2762-4993-B695-85B0157339A6.jpeg 1A7FEFC3-52E2-4CB5-B9AC-F5023061ED6E.jpeg Sorry the pictures didn’t come out great!

I see every thing you are talking about, it looks like post mint damage, (damage that was done after it left the mint). Worth 1 cent.

That's a badly abused coin, and copper-coated zinc cents are defective by design, prone to the blisters you describe.

I'm not even sure it's worth one cent any more, as most coin machines and self-checkouts probably wouldn't accept it. You could probably manage to spend it, though. That's what I'd recommend doing, quick before it starts corroding and leaving a trail of gunk behind it.

It should be one of my sharpest axes, for all the time I spend grinding it here.

Looks like a hundred plus cats ran over it in a parking lot. All damaged.

PMD (post minting damage) not an error.

I’m not trying to be mean, but was this really worth posting about? Common sense would dictate that this cent is just badly damaged and nothing else. Why even waste the time to type it up and take the pictures?

Your time would be better spent reading up on the minting process so you can better understand what is and is not an error (if that is your collecting area of interest).

    Welcome to CT.

Thank you - and I knew that a lot of the damage was post mint, but there were some things that I wasn't sure about and really just curious, so that's what I do - is ask and I'm pretty sure that's what these forums were created for - so much for my common sense. Now, about your "not trying to be mean", maybe you could read up a little on common courtesy.

That is the point of the forum, definitely ask away if you have any questions. Hope you hang around!
