I just went to the library to consult Breen. I noticed that it was a 1988 version. But it seems that is the most recent edition. What do people use for "Breen" type information about more recent coins? __________________ Liberals are not ignorant people, they just know a lot about nothing - Ronald Reagan So I guess conservatives know nothing about a lot - Graham Campbell
A great collector and author and a miserable excuse for a human being. Google "Walter Breen child" and see what I mean.
The stuff about Breen as a person was interesting, I had not heard of his personal life before and gossip is fun. BUT "Walter Breen's Encyclopedia of U.S. Coins" is an exceptionally useful book for coin collectors. Is there any place to get similar, authoritative and complete information about more recent coins? __________________ Liberals are not ignorant people, they just know a lot about nothing - Ronald Reagan So I guess conservatives know nothing about a lot - Graham Campbell
Not like Breen's book - no. But there are new books being written all the time, most of them dealing with one particular coin type or specialty whereas Breen's book covered them all. If you have a particular subject matter in mind, then we could probably recommend a book for it.
