This may sound silly but want to check my "value read". If spot is around $35.50 what would you consider a good bargain price for ASE's. I went in two shops that were charging spot plus $7.95. At what price would you consider ASE's too good to pass up? No silly "$2" answers haha. Erin
Well, actually $2 over spot wouldn't be unrealistic. $8 on the other hand is a bit over the top. ASE's are bullion and should sell as such.
Sorry, haha I meant no $2 straight up answers. Hehe. I don't know if $3 over spot, spot, $2 under spot etc...is a can't miss price. I had not planned on buying any but was offered some so I was trying to figure out what a "jump on them!" price would be lol.
I have a standing offer to buy and sell ASE's @ $2.00 over spot. I consider 2 over spot a fair market price.
Too bad the Mint doesn't think so. The mint charges something like $6 over to the wholesale dealers I think now a days. Since Jan of this year when it was upped.
The mint charges the distributors $2 an oz over spot. Before Jan of this year it was $1.50 on oz over. Even on the hockey pucks they are charging the distributors spot price + $10 per coin which works out to $2 per oz over. So if you can get ASE's for spot + $2 you are paying the same thing the big distributors are paying.
So, if the Authorized Purchasers are paying $2.00 over spot, add shipping and markup which then makes $4-$5 over spot seem reasonable.
It will also depend on how many you buy. The last time I bought some, the price was $7 over if you only bought one or a few; or $5 over if you bought a roll.
There are several B&M dealers locally near me with an average price of $2.50 over spot retail on ASEs.
