    It's funny - the 1916 looks like he's smiling :)

    Darryl,
He IS smiling! He's got a SEG....."S**t Eatin' Grin" on his face.......gee, I wonder why?!?!?!? Maybe he got a look under Ms Liberty's dress! LOLOL
By the way Darryl, have you been buying a lot of coins lately, or are you just posting pictures of your collection? Just wondering because you have been posting some pretty "neat" looking coins! Great pictures, AND some very interesting coins! Thanks!

Swick - These are new to my collection - Maybe the dime is so happy because he is surrounded by all these beautiful liberty coins - it's like 17 to 2 odds :) . Glad you like the group - I didn't have anything like most of these in my collection - so they will be interesting to study and read about.

    Regards,

    Darryl

    Frank

I figured as much - but made me laugh when I looked at the picture of it on the PC.

    Thanks

Hmm, I suspect that smile is closely related to the earlier "Liberty kneeling" coins. Kiss

You are posting a nice variety of coins. Keep it up. I like seeing what others have and like.

I hate to remind you folks, but your "He" is really a she. Yes it's Lady Liberty, a female.
Now I won't add anything else to that. LOL

LOL - Thanks Victor - I was wondering - looked at a few different examples in high grade to see if I could figure out for sure. Just goes to show how little I know - now I will have to try and find info on the design and how the artist came to choose it. OK - now I have no idea why she is smiling. Maybe she just likes her new home...

Thanks Mark - Afraid I have posted all of the new ones that came in. I really should buy a book or two before I get any more early American coins.

Glad you liked them - I am very happy with these and look forward to getting more down the road. It would really be nice to get an example of every US coin minted from 1800 to present.

Now Frank - when a good deal comes along you cannot tell the seller - I'm sorry I cannot buy your coins because I haven't bought the book yet. This was not an eBay purchase but a private seller. I don't get many opportunities where people approach me to buy their coins. It was a very small investment where I really could not get hurt. It is also nice to take a new book and apply the info within against a couple inexpensive examples.
