Cherrypicked some varieties at the show today, I was jazzed since both are listed in the Guide. 1903-O, RPD-002 (visible on 3, to west) 1908-D, RPD-001 (strong south on the 1, slight south on 9) This one was a real treat, is in better shape than the example in the guide.
LOL, This is like Deja Vu all over again. Just like the last show. Your one sharp cookie Acanthite, way to go !!!
Good eye Acanthite and I saw it firsthand at the last show. I DO have to wonder how in the world the dealers missed these do. Even blind old me could have spotted those! Nice job! clembo
Clembo, I have found that quite a few dealers could really care less about some of these varieties. My dealer told me it is too much of a headache trying to find a market for them besides doing ebay which he despises! Don't know if I spelled that right but you know what i mean.
Clembo, the one I showed you at the last show was a cherrypick from that show, though I think I may have had another 1908 then, there are quite a few varieties of that date. These I bought yesterday. And I think your eyesight is better than you say. tdec1000, while some dealers obviously do not check their dimes much for varieties (the 1908-D RPD is testament to that), there are others who do, and prices reflect it believe me. One dealer who I've stopped at must have seven attributed 1893 S/S/S RPD,RPMs for sale, not cheap! Thus the thrill of finding one unattributed. Thanks everyone for having a look.
Believe me my eyesight sucks! LOL but I do rembember looking at a coin you showed me at the last show that I couldn't really see all that well. Course you had a better idea what you were looking for. Put it on a Two Cent Piece and I'd have better luck. The varieties you found would have been easy for even me to spot with a 10x and possibly a 5x. Tdec, There are probably a lot of "volume" dealers that don't check too close but believe me at work I take a good look when I can. I carry a 10x in my left pocket and a 16x in my right. If I see something that might be "something" the boss lets me take it home and put it "under the scope". A quick perusal can mean either more money as the seller or nice cherry pick by the buyer.
