Hello, Im new to this "Cherrypicking" thing. I just had a couple of questions. I searched threw my first 5 rolls and found 2 common errors and 2 wheat pennies. I was just wondering what are the odds of finding wheats or errors in bank rolls. How many rolls would i have to look threw at the bank roughly to get a error or wheat penny that is actually worth money. How often do you guys find good stuff. Much appreciated, Sam
Hi Sam and welcome to the world of cross-eyed, dirty finger, roll searching lol Instead of trying to answer those questions, may I suggest that you read through the thread called Roll searchers, post your results. after a few pages, you will start to get an idea of what you can expect. Great having you on-board here at Coin Talk and thanks for posting your results. good hunting!
What do you mean by "Common Errors"? I don't really keep track, but I'd say that on average I find something like 5-10 wheats in a $25 box of pennies. I've never found any wheats of particular interest though, mostly 40's and 50's. As for errors, I probably average around 1 noteworthy example per $100 searched. I've searched about $800 worth over the last couple of years and have found: 3x 98 WAMS 2x 00 WAMS 1x 99 WAM 2x 94 DDR 1x 88 w/ 89 Reverse 1x 83 DDO 2x 09 Thumbs
