As part of the Asian coin hoard I aquired awile ago, there was this booklet which contained 10 Chinese banknotes from the 50's, 60's, and 70's, although it was put together in 1980. All the notes are in mint condition and are sealed in a plastic sleeve. The pics are numerous and large, so I've posted links to them below. It starts with the front of the book, the information pages, the front and back of each note, and the back cover. I tried to find some information on this set online, but came up empty. I'm particularly interested in it's rarity and or mintage. Any help would be appreciated! I am not to savy in the World Note arena, however, I have seen this at shows before. I just recently bought 2 Gem examples (for friends) of the 1st note you have shown there for about $15 each.....the vignetts are striking and colors are wonderful! Nice set! Rick
Like new banknotes are "Crisp Uncirculated", not MS. The quantity issued of a given bank note is its press run, not mintage. All of the notes in the collection probably have very large press runs, as the comments indicate they are examples of the then-current circulation notes. Considering the population of China, press runs are undoubtedly much larger than those of the US Bureau of Printing and Engraving. Of more significance to the value of the set would be the number of such sets produced, and again the comments imply a fairly large supply.
Thanks for the comments guys, and thanks for the "tips" hontonai. I know these would be fairly common notes, I can just imagine the press runs on these things... But more important like you say, what were the number of these sets produced. I guess I'll just have to do more searching on the internet.
