Here's an addition to my Arabian silver set. The inscription is in Old South Arabian, or Ancient Yemeni. The alphabet is deciphered, and the coin gives us the name of the king and the mint. I have yet to study it, but that'll be my project for the week. SNG ANS calls this a "light half denarius," so think quinarius on a reduced standard. This is the first Himyarite I've collected, not that I couldn't have done so earlier, but I prefer if the planets align in a particular way, ie., the planet of Grade aligning perfectly with the planet of Price. (My compliments to Time Machine for a nice deal.) Here's my set of Arabian drachms (and fractions thereof, obviously not all necessarily of silver). An imitative owl of the Sabaeans, sela'im of Aretas IV/Huldu and Rabbel II/Gamilat, a Bostran drachm of Trajan, tetradrachm of Characene king Attambalos III, and the Himyarite quinarius. A distinctive cast of characters, n'est pas?
