I'm just curious as to how many will be purchasing the new Bald Eagle coins today, and if so, which specific issues do you guys find most appealing/affordable/ with appreciative value in the future?

i think i am not interested. with stock market down so much. prices of mint products increases. not so many collector liked modern commems. i think i will just pass this one even the design is very beautiful. look at marine corp. good but lousy. another one is benjamin franklin. even sold out. is not good either. i will concentrate on american eagle.

HA! i dont belive that Elaine. Ive seen enogh of your posts in the past :D you will talk down this commem, claiming you wont buy. But secretly you will buy 5000 of them. then once they are off sale, you will tell us they are rare and the price is high. then you will try to sell for huge progits :D

    i'm on to you :D

I will buy 1 of each! i love the designs - very Stunning IMHO!! I only wisg i could get the 3 coin gold set :(

it still irks me that the gold commem is 1/4 ounce, but only a $5 coin.

I'm going to buy them. I just wish the mint would let us know in advance what the sales options are. I probably won't buy the gold; just the silver dollars and the half dollars.

I'm definitely purchasing Proof & Uncirculated of the Half Dollars and Silver Dollars. 750k & 500k is extremely limited mintage, IMO, for what looks to be a very popular and appealing coin.

The $0.50 and $1.00 are limited to 100 per houshold, which is a high number. These are going to be raided hard by dealers and infomercial people who plan on painting the eagle, etc.

The $5 gold, on the other hand, I will be staying away from. 100,000 mintage on over-priced gold is WAAAAY too much (see Martha Washington). Its a coin I'd love to have for visual appeal, but way to much to pay for visual appeal alone.

They do... click on the "upcoming products"and it mentions all the sales options.

P.S. How long does it take them to update their site to show new items for sale? It's past noon and it's still not letting me order them.

the main page won't come up for me now, but I can refresh the page I already have opened. Usually that seems to mean the switch is underway and it should be available within minutes.

Um, did it occur to them that switching service providers ON THE DAY NEW COINS ARE BEING ISSUED might not exactly be the best timing?!!!

This is like deciding the best time to do road work on a major highway is in the middle of rush hour. I can't even get through to be put on hold. I just keep getting the "We are unable to answer your call at this time" message.

I bet its going to go fast. These dealers who ridiculously mark up such items, or colorize, etc., even hire outsource call centers. I'm sure they're going by the 100's, and will turn out to be a quick sellout, even without the website up. It may take days, but these will no doubt be gone during the 'pre-order' period.

There's already a dealer on eBay selling presales of these coins... at a markup over the issue price of course (about 50%). Well shipping's free and the markup is only slightly more than the mint would charge for shipping, so I'll call the markup a "convenience fee" and go ahead and save myself the trouble of trying to get thru to the mint on the phone. Way I see it, I'm paying this guy to do that for me lol...

Got three choices: Try to call the Mint on the phone (1-800-872-6468) and order; good luck actually getting through. Or you can place an order by mail... good luck having any of the coins left by the time they receive the order. Or find a 3rd party dealer who managed to get any of these and buy from them, biting the bullet and pay a significant markup over the issue price.

Not wanting to get left out and just not having the patience for the first option, I'm going with option 3 this time.

I got in at 12:05 the rep told me that they were not accepting orders for the bald eagle yet and that they won’t be accepting orders for ten more minutes??? Should have asked for a supervisor! Now I only get the we won’t be answering your call at this time. Has any one placed an order yet?
