    Hello everyone,
Decided to go through pennies again, it's been awhile and have to admit never should have started. Once I get coins out it's hours before I decided to stop! Anyway I came across these pennies and was curious what the heck happened? What causes the pennies to look like this? Decided to ask the experts, thank you.

Would take one heck of a monster mega dryer to do that kind of damage. I'm thinkin' 'blow torch'.......

A strong acid caused that. A clothes dryer would have smoothed it out. Do you see the bumpy surface? That's atypical in a dryer coin, but typical in a strong acid wash, such as in HCL or H2SO4.
