I am in charge of selling a small coin collection including 5 original, unopened, bags of 1963 D pennies, and one 1962 D bag, each containing 5000 coins. I couldn't find a price for them so I put one bag for sale on Ebay just to see how much it would bring.

These bags were purchased by my father when he worked as a banker over 40 years ago and are still in original condition. Any ideas how much they should bring and where would be the best place to sell them?

    TIA

My gurss would be around $300, if you can find someone that wants them.

Not bad profit for a bag that cost $50 in 63.

    Sold

Thanks for the reply. I placed the bag on Ebay for 7 days and had three people bid. The bag sold for $180...less than I had hoped for, but better than no sale at all.

I still have several bags of these coins so I'm not sure how to get rid of them--is Ebay the best option?

    Inflation

Unfortunately, $50 in 1963 dollars is worth $317.81 in 2005 dollars.
