had lots of beautiful PL morgans including an 1888 in 61PL that all went through the roof price wise.. All in all a great week for the sellers, not so great for me.. but tonight right at the end of the GC auction I won a "stupid bid"... yeah I tossed a $20 bid on this puppy (30 once you add in shipping and premiums) but I'm happy. I wanted one of these and while not expensive, i'm a cheap sob ... So I've added one more commemorative to my collection even though I keep promising no more commemoratives lol
I have the gold $5 - I don't generally like modern issues, especially not commems, but this one just 'hit right' for some reason. I bought it for near melt at the time (now well below), and have not regretted it for a moment... I think its the only 'bullion' coin that I actually take out and look at.
I had a similar issue last night at GC. A few minutes before ending, but a bid on this one ($1 more than the current bid was) and won it. Did not see that it was "previously mounted" until I had won it. $26 (plus premium and shipping) - I guess it'll always be worth $20 at least.
