On April 7th, Roma Numismatics held Auction XI. I ended up winning 2 coins. On April 8th. I sent them a bank draft to cover invoice. Three weeks later, a nice gentleman from Roma e-mailed me to say they had not gotten payment. Well, I sent him photo scans of bankdraft/ date I sent letter. Up till now, the letter has vanished, so now I had to have my bank try to track this, then replace it. Its a lot of hassle, for the bank/ myself and Roma auctions! Hopefully, my luck will be better when this is resolved and coins are in mail.

Carausius Brother, can you spare a sestertius?

What you have not told us is whether you sent your bank draft from within the UK or via international post.

That sucks man I hope it gets resolved for you. On a somewhat similar note I just won a coin from an auction in the states and it's supposed to ship to Canada. It last said it was in London UK. Could this be a tracking number error or is the coin going for a long trip? Just seems weird because the last coin I won from them went NY to Vancouver then Canada Post to my house, it's weird. I'll see where it's going after Heathrow before I talk to the dealer. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem??

OK nevermind it's now saying it processed in Canada. Anyone have any idea why it would go to UK?

Wow, we're just a bunch of sweet Canadians hoping that our coins make it home safely, eh?

TIF: Ajax said he won his coin from an auction "in the states", not from Roma. He didn't mention the auction company, but if it was CNG, they have a UK office. Perhaps the coin shipped from there?...just a thought.

Oh, oops, you're right. I thought he was asking about Panzerman's coin.

Lucky for me, my letter with bank draft were the MIA casaulities on way from Canada to the UK offices of ROMA numismatics. Hopefully, once this is resolved, my coins will not suffer same fate! I have only had one coin shipment that vanished, that was in 1997. I had just won 2 Imperial FDC Aurei from Triton One Auction....:(:(:(:(:(:(:(
Happily, I was able to use that $ to get an FDC Elagalabus Aureus/ FDC Constantius II Solidus in Triton II auction.:):):):):):):):):)

All the best, panzerman. I got my fingers crossed for you!

My brother has a coin from David Hendin that's been touring around Toronto for about a week now. :p

Hopefully everything will be sorted out in your favor.

Im still waiting on a British Double Florin to come from the US and it's been 2 weeks now, which is unusual for me since I get coins fairly quickly there.

    How utterly frustrating.

Absolutely true story. I live in Oregon. I ordered a Faustina sestertius from a seller in Toledo, Ohio last week. This morning tracking shows that Faustina is vacationing in Honolulu, Hawaii without me! How in the world does something like this happen? If you don't believe me track USPS 9400109699939002944500. I think it will probably get here eventually.

I had something like that happen to a package recently. It was delivered the next day. The tracking scan was simply wrong. I hope that's the case with your coin :)

It seems we all have those odd shipping issues....I have a coin that arrived in ISC New York three days after payment and then after hanging around a bit as usual, it next went north to Boston instead of east to me on Long Island....now that's puzzling to me.

Opposite situation. I purchased a coin from Bratislava on the 1 June. I hadn't told my wife about it just yet as I didn't expect it for a couple more weeks. Well it showed up Thursday, 9 June (thus her comments calling me a hoarder). It only took 8 days.

I tracked it, and had it diverted on to Mumbai for you... It is catching the boat this afternoon...

What? Faustina (jr.) is going to party in Mumbai without me now! I read somewhere that she was a loose woman who liked sailors...

    (See wikipedia: Faustina the younger)

    LOL! on the loose woman...

One of the reasons I do NOT focus on Roman Imperial period...
