    Spider -

Both of those chemicals can be found in many things in many different forms. So I don't know if there is a simple answer to your question. What I can do though is tell you if a particular holder is safe or not - if you have one in mind.

Well, I use polystyrene tubes for low value circulated duplicates, but I wouldn't put anything else in tubes because of the potentials for damage
    • to the edges from rubbing on the tubes themselves, :( and
    • to the high points of the designs from bouncing around and rubbing adjacent coins, as well as possible dings from coin edges hitting coin surfaces when dropped into the tubes.

I would agree with Roy's comments about coin tubes. But to answer your question, no the chemicals used to make the plastic will not hurt the coins.
