Bad Chinese GMM’s; nothing is sacred…

    So, start with a couple of GMM early half cent “replicas”:

    Create China “copies” using the reverse from the 1796 without the word “COPY”:

    Then, change the die pairing to the 1794 reverse and you get the latest internet examples being listed as genuine!

    None of these coins should fool anyone who is familiar with the real thing. There are dies varieties, but after 1794, the design became more standardized.

    Here is a high grade genuine 1795 C-1 half cent. PCGS graded this one AU-58. According the last condition census I have seen it is ranked as the seventh finest known, whatever that might mean. These coins are hard to find nice.
