Ok, not an actual purse..lol...I am talking about the ones you put around your waste.

What is better for a coin show...I am thinking of the hip purse thing, because the backpack will be too much, and I don't want to make it look like I am stealing by going in and out of it 20 million times for my binder, my redbook, and my loupe.

Just trying to not screw up my first ever coin show..lol...can you tell that I am paranoid?

Stainless, there were many many people there lugging around briefcases, backpacks, purses, suitcases etc. No worries. Take whatever is more comfortable for you. Just make sure that you always leave the coins where the dealer can see it, they dont like it when your sitting down and move the coin below the top of the table where it is out of their view.

Wear a short sleeved shirt too, or roll up your sleeves a little while your their a little. That way it gets rid of any question about you putting some coins in your sleeve. Just to be cautious. And if you want, so a dealer doesn't think you are palming anything, you can rub your hands together every so often. Just a couple of tips. Best of luck man, and have fun!! :thumb:

I was thinking about this recently too. Filling up my hip pockets and my back pockets completely with all the different things I need has been quite a hassle, lol. I think I'm going to go with the backpack.

Pack your mind, and you won't need the other stuff.
When I'm going to a show (not as a dealer) I normally have my 5x, and maybe a copy of the Gray Sheet. If I don't have a GS then I just pack all of the prices I can in my head, and will ask to see the dealers if I need to check something out again.

You can forget the Red Book---if you aren't selling then I would leave your binder at home. You can either write down the dates you are looking for, or just pack those in your mind as well.
Your Loupe will either fit in your side pocket, or around your neck....you are set to go.

If you are trying to sell, then I would pick out what I feel would be the hotest coins at that time, and take those....put those in your other pocket and you are set.

If you are dealing in varieties, or coins that are often faked, then a few books might be needful.

I carry a messenger bag. I usually pick up a book or two while I'm on the floor and really need a convenient place to put it. I'd also recommend taking a few cash-envelopes from the bank with you, they're the perfect thing to hold flipped coins in!

Be sure to wear your t-shirt that says ..."Be Gentile...It's my First Time."

    keep track of your backpack

All the advice above is good. Take whatever size case you need for your stuff. Chances are that you won't need 95% of it.

Remember to keep track of your backpack or case. Keep it attached to you or keep it touching you at all times. Some bad person could slip away with it while your attention is on the coins.

    Very best regards,
