If a certain item is on back order at the mint does that mean they need to mint another run of the item in question. This sounds like a dumb question to me, but I really don't know. Thanks in advance
When you are dealing with the Mint, there are a number of possible answers: 1) they may have run out of the item and need to produce some more. 2) they have placed them in storage and can't seem to locate them. 3) they are in the process of changing companies that will be shipping the item. and finally No. 4) It's the Mint, and part of the federal government, so what did you expect. Sorry about that! Didn't they give any idea of the time it would take before they would be shipping again?
This is another government agency that badly needs privatized. I ordered a second set of nickels and the Mint indicated they were back ordered to 4-29. I checked on them every few days, and then a couple weeks ago it says shipped 4-15. Still not here.
