I found this 1982D penny (copper variety) with what I believe to be die clash errors on both obverse and reverse. What I find peculiar is that the reverse appears to be minted with an indented error from another year-perhaps 1990 something (I can only make out the first 3 digits-199). Could this cent have been hanging around the mint and somehow got thrown in another batch years later? How do you suppose this happened?
Gonna need better pics. Are the marks incuse or raised? If the letters are "indented" as you said meaning they go into the coins surface, somebody took a hammer to it (which from those pics looks likely anyways).
Do a search for hammer job or squeeze job. That's what you have. Just a bored person smashed two coins together.
