It was awesome. Met a dealer there who just bought a collection off of an older lady, told me i could have anything the price he paid. I got two AMAZING morgans, 30 bucks a piece. I'll get pics up in like 5 minutes. Edit: Ok, pics up. Both of these morgans should easily grade 65, the pics show a lot more clutter than there actually is. The 80-S obverse is just incredible in-hand.
I hope the dealer actually gave her a good price but he sold to you for $30 so I bet he gave her less then $20 for the coin.
Cody Neither will grab you a 65, but both are nice eye appealing coins. What matters is that you are happy with the price paid and that the seller made a cpl bucks. Cody, they don't give 65's away cheap........there is no free lunch bud. Congrats, you still look like you did well with both coins
The first one might be a 64, and the second one would be a 63. No 65's here, but I will say that both of these coins look very nice And you got good deals as well
I'd say they both look 64 to me, nice coins! Is that haze on the obverse of the '80, or is it reflection from your camera or something? Too bad the reverse doesn't look as deep as the obverse - because of that, you will only get PL. Although NGC would probably give it PL * for the superior obverse.
Just one question is this dealer a person you deal with on a regular basis? Again pictures are sometimes misleading... but I have been burned with coins like you have pictured here Whizzed ... I purchased a 1878 cc from a dealer who I had made a few purchases from and was very happy. I purchased the 1878 cc from him it was the bomb! I sent it in to PCGS came back in a body bag! And again this dealer was from south FL. and his story on the CC was it came from an little old lady who was selling off her late husban collection. Just a word to the wise if it looks too good and the cost is questionablely low....be careful. Hope you got a good coin regards Paddy
Sorry to hear about you getting burned. This is why it is important to be able to detect signs of cleaning on coins. And if the buyer is going to send the coins into a TPG anyway, it is smartest to buy pre-slabbed, if the buyer can't tell exactly how to spot signs of cleaning, or any other altering.
Sorry to hear about your burn story man, that really sucks This is a dealer I've dealt with before, he's legit, really cool guy. The coins aren't cleaned in any way, shape, or form.
Thanks guys.... however I been collecting since the age of 7 and I'll tell you now staight up sooner or later you'll get burned! It's all good ya live and learn! Never learned half as much from a pos. experence as from a neg. one School of hard knocks here.....:headbang: Ya all have a good night it's bed time for the east coast Cya Regards Paddy
