Different username maybe? Anyway, if taking a better picture is difficult now, it would also help to post the text that appears on the coin or medal. Seems there is the word KING (above the head) but the rest I cannot read ... Christian
somone had posted the coin in 2005 (so back again) with nor real resolution of the coin as I found this site because I was researching for a person who found it on the metal detecting forum I use.
In 2005 a person had the same coin but there was no real identifaction Here is her 2005 posting. Its the same coing. Coin or collectible? I have a coin that has King Edward on it. (Not sure which one) It is silver. Around the edge it says " GOD SAVE EDWARD KING OF ENGLAND" His picture is in the center (with crown on) On the other side is a lion on rear paws and a unicorn (the same way) they are holding a crown. Under the crown are crossed swords, under the swords is an upside down 13 (?) Around the coin it says "PROSPER THE WORK OF OUR HANDS O. LORD *** (STARS)" Can anyone identify this coin? And which King Edward this could be? We have tried to compare pictures with the websites on British royalty but King Edward VII has a beard in all the pictures we have found. (not that it means a whole lot) The coin we have doesn't show facial hair. Thanks for any help you can provide! Ellie
Here is a better picture. Came across that when searching the Internet, hehe. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080803192629AA5Cf5q Cannot say much about that piece. But "prosper the work of our hands" is apparently a quote from the Bible. Christian
The obverse is reminiscent to British coin designs of the 12th century AD, likely drawing parallels between the Edward I (1272-1307) and Edward VII (1902-1910). The reverse legend is taken from Psalm 90, 17. Considering this, I would presume that this token was likely made at the turn of the 20th century in England, perhaps for a church promotional.
