I seriously doubt this has much value, but thought I'd ask. I have a set of advertisements from B. Max Mehl of Fort Worth. A page advertising the Star Encyclodpedia, a letter from Mehl signed (not a real signature, probably jst a rubber stamped one), an order form, a return envelope and another page of coin offers. All this came in an envelope with Mehl's cachet on the envelope itself. I can't date these definitively, but one has a copyright date of 1936, and the letter mentions he was in his 34th year of business, so I think that dates it around 1936, too. If anyone wants to see scans, let me know. Worthless or not, I love these, they are a fascinating look at coin prices - he was offering a "hefty" $100 for an 1894-S dime!
Max Mehl things have some value....I'm not sure how much but I am sure that if you put it somewhere like ebay you would more than likely get bids. $100- for a 1894-S dime??....nowdays that is cheap....I wonder if he ever got any at that price. Speedy
I agree, such items make an interesting addition to any numismatic collection. I have some older copies of Numismatist and some ANS Proceedings booklets - dating back to 1915. They provide an interesting perspective on the hobby as seen through the eyes of those who preceded us.
