Bought this coin for literally 1 dollar... Its for sure a silver canadian quarter. I dont know whats it worth, how much silver is it 80 % or 92.5 % and how much silver is contained inside it?
Pre 1920- (92.5% silver) 1920-1967 (80% silver) (although I believe 67's can be either 50% or 80%) 1967-1968 Quarter (50% silver) (68's can be no silver) It has to be at least 80% given the design I believe though. .172 oz silver content if pre 1920, .1463 oz silver content if 1920-1967, 80%er
I don't think so, the Pre 1920's and post 1920's both weighed 5.81 grams when minted. Got some of my info from this site: http://www.silverinvestingsimplified.com/CanadianSilverCoins.html
Could be 1912-1936; 1911 has a different obverse. 1912-1921 92.5%; 1922-1936 - 80% So, it's at least 80%, coin weight 5.83 grams, silver at $0.79 CAD/gram (quote from hour or so ago) Tech specs from Canadian mint site http://www.mint.ca/store/mint/learn/25-cents-5300010#.UXsB4EpgXyY Unfortunately same design used from 1912 thru 1936 so hard to tell if its prior to 1920
The Edwardian dates and earlier of this coin is sterling, .925. What you have in the George V is .800. Not a bad pickup for a buck, adds to your stack!
Pretty much melt, the only way you could really get more potentially is ebay, but then you have fees/shipping.
Thanks! All im doing with it is keeping in my collection. I would have bought this coin anyways, I like silver. Keep Stacking guys! Thanks for your input!
The best way to tell if a 67 is 50% silver is to put a magnet to it. If it sticks, it's nickel, if it doesn't it's silver.
