I am just wondering what the average charge for shipping on ebay? I charge $3.25 which I think is cheap since everything is in a bubble mailer and now I have to include a Dum Dum sucker or the post office won't take it ( oh how I hate the post office ). Just wondering what other people are seeing charged or charging with their shipment.

I've been charging $2.50 for a while now but I think I'm going to have to lower it AGAIN (I used to charge $3.50 until the DSR's came out) to try to get my shipping rating up. I'm starting to doubt that people would give you 5 stars even if the shipping was free. :(

I charge $3.00, that includes a #000 new bubble mailer. Just toss in 2 packing peanuts, that'll get you to the 3/4" min thickness with no weight added.

DJ, We are at 4.8 and hanging by a thread. I do not charge extra per coin even tho I state it is 50cents per item in the listing, this helps them click that extra star, lol. I do add $1 per slab tho, as it does cost extra in weight and then I throw in sig confirm at no charge, just to protect ME

Well I am at 4.6 on the DSR, but I don't think $3.25 is all that high. After the cost of the shipping label, the bubble mailer, and then the postage. I don't think I am going to raise my prices though even after the post office raises their rates again in the next few months.

Also my post office is ran by a whole heard of idiots that can't actually agree with each other on shipping bubble mailers with delivery conformation. I guess the item has to be 3/4 of an inch so I am just going to throw in a Dum Dum sucker and hope the buyer doesn't think it is referring to him.

Since I rarely sell anymore I haven't encountered some of the "new" problems.

I sold on Overstock for a while. Mainly lower dollar items. Shipping was 50 cents for anything smaller tnan a Silver Dollar sized coin.
A regular envelope, coin in 2x2 between cardboard with a personal note wrapped around all. Cost me a stamp, a little time and an envelope.

Bigger stuff often goes priority and that's that. Whatever it costs to send it.

People want things for free including your coins ya know.

My current auction I'm shipping for free. I'm also offering a full refund including shipping if not satisfied! ;)

I too combine shipping for $.50 per extra coin but rarely ever charge it. My DSR is currently at 4.6 for shipping...but I'd like to get it up to 4.8.

I have never given anything but, all deserved it though.

Why dont you just charge how much it actually takes to ship the package? If you know the weight of the coin it shouldnt be hard.

Actual cost for a 1 ounce #000 bubble mailer is $1.31 plus the $.09 for the mailer, 2 ounces ( 1 morgan ) is $1.48. We buy our bubble mailers 500 at a time for $45 .

Even at $2, there still is an extra $.60 for "extras" like ink, paper, labels, etc. $3 / $3.50 is about average and to be perfecty honest, there is still room to come down to $2 and have that extra 60 cents.

Ebay buyers have not given ANY seller a 5.0 rating on shipping, even when shipping is free.....so I just go la la la and charge my $3

My shipping for single coins is 2.00.

I mean, the bubble envelope was equal to about 40 cents (a little less) and the shipping is 1.31.
So thats 1.71 - its as real as it gets.

I do $1.99 for first auction unless it's more than 3 coins. Then every auction after that is $0.50. I usually sell stuff in spurts - when I get in the mood - so I usually have a dozen things at once or so.

I HAVE lost money on this - when some guy wins 4+ auctions.

If I was selling on ebay. I would just add up what ever it cost to mail the item out. package, filler paper, tracking, insurance and 3 day shipping amount I mailed a coin out to a friend of mine in a 6 x 8 yesterday and it cost me about 5 bucks for everything just to send him a damb silver dollar lol. I walked out of the post office thinking WoW that cost me 25% of the coins value. I dont think I will ever be selling any coins on ebay. lol

I charge $3.00 when I sell. But, of course, its free for Cointalk-ers!

The other day I got a coin in the mail that I paid $5.50 shipping for. For a coin about the size of a dime, it was wrapped in a ball of bubble wrap the size of a baseball. (Don't worry, the coin was still ridiculously cheap)

I have been a ebayer since 98. I find that the more you charge for shipping, the less the seller gets for the coin..So I guess it all evens out at the end. Some sellers are way to high. I have seen sellers get as high as $9.00 to ship one $10. coin, and I have seen sellers give FREE shipping..I don't sell coins, I sell Trains, and buy coins.

    Depends on the coin.

Low end stuff (less than $30) - I suppose $3 is fair - maybe less.

More expensive coins require insurance, and that increases with the price of the coin.
