What is the average quality of the coins you have received in the US mint sets? I just opened & inspected my new US mint set (U08). Essentially every coin in the set has very distracting rubs, nicks & gnashes. I’m used to having a few coins showing contact marks but in this case there are very distracting contact marks on every coin except the cent & dime. I thought about posting some photos but where would I start & where would I finish. Is this typical in the 2008 sets or did I just get a lemon? Very best regards, collect89
Collect you are not alone I have what sounds like the same problems with my 08 set, very dissapointing.
Yes, the more coins I inspected, the more disappointing it became. One of the nickels has a fantastic reverse but there is a large, primary focal area contact mark on the obverse. Very best regards, collect89
I'm quite satisfied with the quality of coins I got in the both P & D mint sets except for the pennies. They had carbon dots all round them. Even business strike penny looks better than those.LOL
I was just looking at them again and noticed the presidential dollars look like they have water spots all over them and the same on the half. I should have returned it!
